VISIT WITH GOD “If only I could pick up the phone and have a direct call to God, then I would be able to hear God speaking to me.” Has this thought ever crossed your mind? Or does it sometimes feel as if your prayers do not go higher than the ceiling? How can we have a visit with God? Joshua 1:8, “Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful”. The Bible is given to us in the first place simply to invite us to make ourselves at home in the world of God. Each subtle, significant and powerful Word here is meant for you. One Word may speak today and another tomorrow. But God sent each of them straight to your life. The more you read, the more you think about what you read and become familiar with His voice. God speaks to us through His Word by His Spirit. There is no real communion or communication unless you both partake in the conversation. This means that prayer and Bible reading should always go together. Take time to splash around in the Word of God and fill your prayer with Scriptures. Using the Word you have read helps you ensure that your prayer lines up with God’s Word and intention for your life. Prayer: Lord Jesus, open my heart to Your Word, open my heart to Your faith and open my heart to Your Spirit. Lord Jesus, please give me a hearing heart. Amen.
