THE GREAT SHEPHERD – JESUS CHRIST Hebrews 13:20-21 – “Now may the God of peace who brought up our Lord Jesus from the dead, that great Shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant, make you complete in every good work to do His will, working in you what is well pleasing in His sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen”. Man not only needs a mediator but after he becomes a Christian, he is living in a world dominated by satan. The devil and his angels have been making strong moves to pluck us out of the hands of our Shepherd but the Bible says “when they come to us in one way, they will flee before us in seven ways.” Other shepherds may slumber and sleep and often lose some of their sheep but our own Shepherd keeps us day and night. Our Lord Jesus Christ has vowed that none of His sheep shall perish, not even one – for there is everlasting life in Him, even beyond the grave. Jesus knew that the trouble in this world could rob his followers of peace. Take heart. In Luke 22:31 He specifically supports the position of His followers so that their faith will not fail. We are in need of intercessors. Jesus’ ministry of intercession is little appreciated by believers today. In every temptation, in every trial and in every hard place, Jesus ever lives to pray for us. That is the reason for our victory. PRAYER: Lord, Jesus Christ, You are the great Shepherd; I commit my life into Your able hands in Jesus’ name.
