START IMITATING GOD We are in a generation today without faith and hope. That is, a generation that laughs because others laugh, not that they are happy; a generation that gives out of compulsion, not that it comes from their hearts; a generation that says, ‘Amen’ because someone says, ‘In Jesus’ name,’ not that they believe. The problem in the church is not far from imitation. The greater challenge we face is the temptation to look to others for direction, what to say, what to do, how to dress and so on. Show me your friends and I will show you who you are for we are who we are as a virtue of the company we keep. If you look to your friends for direction, you are like them. If you are like your friends, you are the same as them. If you are the same as them, then what makes you what God says you are? Therefore, choose your friends with care. Let us listen to the inner voice of the Holy Spirit. A Christian should be under the check and conduct of the Holy Spirit at all times. It’s not all about appearance, what we have, how we are doing or treated – we are made in our hearts to be like Jesus. We would be judged not by the colour of our skin but by the content of our character. Do not say ‘Amen’ because someone says ‘In Jesus’ name.’ Say ‘Amen’ because you believe. Much is promised to our believing. It is time to stop imitating man and start imitating God. EPHESIANS 5:1-2, “Therefore be imitators of God as dear children. And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling aroma.” PRAYER: Lord Jesus Christ, command unto my spirit the mind of Christ, watchfulness, gentleness and an obedient spirit, in Jesus’ name!
