REFUSE TO ACCEPT FAILURE Luke 5;5-6, “But Simon answered and said to Him, ‘Master, we have toiled all night and caught nothing; nevertheless at Your word I will let down the net.’ And when they had done this, they caught a great number of fish, and their net was breaking.” What does it mean to fail? No one can tell by the present signs what the future holds. The person who is a failure is not the person who is poor, sick or down but the person without a dream. We should not allow our situation to mislead us. Do not misinterpret your present situation as the measure of God’s love for you. Even when He seems to be silent, God is still saying something. Peter had failed in his professional career. That he had laboured and toiled without anything to show for his many years of self –determination, self- confidence, human diligence and professional experience was evident in the way he sat frustrated at the seaside after the fruitless night of fishing. Yet Peter demonstrated that, in spite of all the odds, there was still need to maintain self-control and submit to the One whose will was superior. Instead of allowing himself to be overwhelmed by the negative circumstances of failure in business, he saw it as an opportunity to honour and appreciate Christ the more. Peter got angry at his failure, refused to accept failure and began to succeed. That was why he was still at the shore after fishing all night long. If he had accepted the failure, he would have left the shore long before the arrival of Jesus and maybe even had missed his encounter with the Saviour who changed his action and location from catching fish at the seaside to catching men in the city. Imagine the damage that would have happened if Peter had accepted failure. We do not always get what we had hoped for. If we succeed, we must give thanks to God. If we fail, we must submit to His will and move on. The day you get angry at your failure is the day you begin to succeed. The day you get angry at sin is the day you begin to live a righteous life. The day you get angry at your weakness is the day you begin to be strong. Refuse to accept failure. PRAYER: Lord Jesus Christ, I agree with Your Word; I refuse to accept any situation that is contrary to Your Word.
